Cheryl Tribout Goewert (friend in the dance biz)

She gave my daughter a foundation in dance that allowed her to take her dance clear through professional.  She encourages her dancers to express their emotions through movement and recognizes and supports the differences in students.  She enjoys those wiggly itty bitty kids and they know it.

Candace Starr has been very influential in my teaching career. She has motivated and cheered me on every step of the way with a grace and expertise like no other! I frequently reached out to her for advice on curriculum and strategies for various classes. I am so thankful for her wisdom and support! Candace lights up the room with her smile. Kids are automatically connected to her because of her fun attitude and age appropriate teaching styles. Thanks for being you Miss Starr!

Miss Starr was my dance teacher in high school. There are a few people, who say a few words to you, that impact you so deeply it changes the trajectory of your career. I will never forget as a sophomore, when we were just about to go on stage at competition for a lyrical performance, and Miss Starr said, “I love this routine and I just love watching Tara dance. She makes ME want to dance.” I was never the star dancer or the lead part growing up. I loved dance, so I never needed that type of validation. I knew the part I played. But such a deeply profound compliment caught me completely off guard and made me view my performance career completely differently. I didn’t need to be in the spotlight to do my job and I didn’t need to have the best turns, the best leaps or the best anything to touch people through my performances. Had no one ever told me that, I don’t know that I would have had such a meaningful career that has led me into coaching and teaching to this day. Since that day, Miss Starr has supported me with unwavering commitment. Always providing me opportunities, advice and just general encouragement. She is a GEM and a gift to the dance community.

While I have never met Candace, I can say with certainty that she is quite amazing!! She has created a ginormous community for dance teachers across the worlds to help each other with ideas, give feedback, etc. Not only has she created this amazing community filled with resources, but she is the first to always comment ideas and help people out!! I’m so grateful I came across her amazing FB group and Candace!!!
